The Indianapolis Cultural Trail

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail

The perfect combination of scenic trails and local culture, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick is an 8-mile urban bike and pedestrian path that takes you through the diverse neighborhoods, districts, restaurants, and entertainment destinations throughout downtown Indy.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail serves as the downtown hub for central Indiana’s vast greenway system (connecting 40 miles of trails in total), and traverses six cultural districts, offering an easy and beautiful way to see local highlights like Fountain Square, Mass Ave, White River State Park, and the Wholesale District. The trail also links up to the Monon Trail, which will take you to popular shopping destinations like Broad Ripple Village and Carmel.

Art fans will also enjoy spotting numerous public art pieces located along the trail, including Looking Through Windows by Michael Kushchnir (Indiana Avenue and St. Clair Street), Ann Dancing by Julian Opie (intersection of Massachusetts Avenue with Vermont and Alabama streets), and the Glick Peace Walk (a stunning stretch along Walnut Street that celebrates the lives of legendary peacemakers).

If you would like to experience the Cultural Trail with a local expert, bike tours are available every Saturday from April through October at 10am. The tour begins at the Indianapolis Cultural Trail Office – 132 W. Walnut Street and costs $35 per person (bike and helmet included).
